SUPPORTING COMMITEE FOR THE REUNIONESE CHILDREN DEPORTED TO FRANCE
COME AND JOIN US !
The majority of these young children ( some of them were only 5) were orphans and under custody of the nation's institutions but some children were litterally « stolen « from their families, parents or relatives who ignored where their children had been taken and who learned, years later , that they had been deported to France without their consent.
The actors of this tragedy ( politicians, socials workers, high representatives of social actions for the population) undertook their « misdeeds » with the approval of of french government, represented by Michel Debré, a parliamentary member elected in Reunion island. The latter's aim was to repopulate some french areas like La Creuse, Le Tarn, L'Aveyron …
In the 1995's the press and the victims of this deportation revealed and exposed the scandal ; a shame for a nation like France which is supposed to respect some republican values like the digity of human beeings.
Stories began to be published in the national press, stories of people who had been the victims of that deportation and who had committed suicide, become prostitutes or vagrants and who were psychologically affected
Legal procedures have been launched against the government, but up-to-now all legal actions led gy associations as well as the victims themselves have been rejected, closed by the French Courts. The victims have now appealed to the European Court of Justice and are waiting for its decision.
In 2013 we shall commemorate the 50th anniversary of deportation. Such a tragedy can't fall into oblivion. Today, entire families are still traumatized by this experience because not only the deported children but their own children are psychologically affected and the future generations will also be affected, like the victims of slavery. The damage is irreversible, irretrievable.
La
très grande majorité de ces enfants a été
victime d’un traumatisme profond dont ils réclament à
l’état français la reconnaissance et la
réparation.
The present supporting committee, including political cultural, sporting associations and also individuals aims at bringing its support to those deported children and demands :
-
that the French Nation acknowledges its responsibility for the expatriation of these people from Reunion to France.
that this « neo-slavery » politics be recognized and commemorated on the same day as
the National Day against slavery, on May 10.
-
that the Nation make amends for the harm done to these children and help them financially to reconstruck themselves.
